The National Council Scout Association of Venezuela in use of its powers under the POR, in special meeting and agreed by its members because of the sensitive unexpected disappearance of our brother Scout and a member of this institution:
Alessandro Tarantino Gustavo Alzuru
Issues this statement:
Considering
Who died in the city of Valencia tragically on February 9, 2013, at 16 years of age, Gustavo Alessandro Tarantino Alzuru member of Casupo Scout Group, District North Valencia, Carabobo Region, in his Group Camp, performing a service with his fellows.
Considering
That his passing significantly mourn his family, his friends, many households and all members of National and International Scout large family, who now regret this terrible event.
Considering
Its performance in all areas of his daily work, are examples of responsibility, work, respect, conviviality, friendship and commitment to the principles and values that govern the behavior of a good citizen, full of life and with a promising future.
Considering
That as a member of our Association testified in life what represented for him the Scout Promise and Law, to exalt worthy example to all members of our Association: Cubs, Scouts. Rovers, directors, representatives, sponsoring institutions, adult collaborators and all persons connected with our institution
Agrees
1. Declaring a week of national mourning within our institution, observing a minute of silence in all Scout activities, both youth and adult, lifting at half mast the World Scout Flag in all activities of the world next weekend.
2. Order and grant through the National Court of Honor the "St. George´s Cross" post-mortem, as indeed will be given to his parents and brothers at his funeral on 11 February 2013
3. Joining the sorrow and pain of their parents, siblings, relatives, friends, peers and the Clan of Casupo Scout Group, all Cub Scouts, Rovers, representatives, partners and institutions sponsoring adults of District North Valencia, Carabobo Region and our entire partnership at national, entrusting our prayers to the Lord our God, let him pitch his tent in the field of happiness and rest, next to his.
4. Make reading and delivery hereof to relatives and friends.
Done and agreed by all members of the National Council in permanent communication with the members attending the funeral in the city of Valencia. Spread this statement through all scouts and media that all our members have to Alessandro in your prayers, as an example of living the Scout Promise and Law.

Now more than ever we must fight for a better world, a friend passed out believing and fulfilling our promise and law, why should we break it? everyone from our positions must put a bit for the world of tomorrow, so it could be a safer and better world for our children. Many will not care because although it could have happened to them, they will keep saying it is not their problem, but remember, it could have happened to any of you!!
Left on your consciences joining this cause or not, but a Scout friend, our brother was killed defending his little brothers under a bright night sky. I´ll put my hand and do what I can. Please join our cause be Scout or not, if you want a safer tomorrow for your children! More Scout, less violence. Join us and help us to make our voice becomes a cry for help and reach ears capable of doing something great for our interests.
